Security is Central to Venyu's Mission
Ensuring the utmost in redundancy, encryption, and physical security techniques; Venyu's data protection, recovery, and archiving solutions exceed the security levels utilized by other solutions. Backed by a SAS 70 (Type II) certification, our infrastructure features redundancy at every level, multiple tiers of firewall and network perimeter defense, and 24/7 vault and bandwidth monitoring.
SAS 70 Type II Certification - Our processes and controls have been audited to ensure security - and compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, FINRA, and others. Venyu's entire infrastructure and facilities - including organization and management, physical security, logical security, vault operations, client services, and software applications - are scrutinized and annually tested by a certified third party.
End-to-End Encryption - Industry-leading 256-bit AES encryption is available to protect data in flight and at rest. Data is always encrypted, and clients have the only decryption key. Venyu has no "back door" method to access client data.
Block Processing - Data is transmitted in non-linear encrypted blocks for additional security; the data is essentially "chopped up" and transmitted non-contiguously so any unauthorized decryption attempts will provide incoherent information.
Authorized Access - Username and password authentication ensures only authorized administrators can access the central interface, and all backup activity is recorded via audit logs. Each client has an account name common to their servers. In addition, each server is given a unique ID and password for vault verification. Optionally, the IP address(es) and/or node name(s) that can access a particular vault account can be limited.
Push Technology - Venyu uses a "push technology" that requires data transmission to be initiated within clients' networks by an authorized administrator. A proprietary encapsulation protocol uses Remote Procedure Calls to pass control information and the actual data back and forth between clients and the datacenter.
Secure Datacenters - Data is stored on industry-leading disk arrays located in state-of-the-art colocation facilities. Each datacenter is monitored and equipped with redundant power and telecommunication supplies, climate controls, and fire suppression systems.
- Power - Each facility is equipped with utility power backed by automatic UPS power and diesel generators.
- Fire Suppression – All facilities contain high-sensitivity smoke and heat detection alarm systems and pre-action sprinklers rated for telecommunication or computer room environments. Sub-floor leak detection units are standard.
- Climate Controls – Under floor cooling, humidity and temperature controls are monitored with alarm sensors. Redundant conditioning units ensure uniform temperature and humidity.
- Physical Access – Facilities are secured with security personnel and/or security operations monitors. CCTV, badging systems and pre-registered escort services are standard.
Business Continuity – Venyu leads industry redundancy by replicating protected data to a second continuity vault located 1,500 miles away. This ensures that client data exists in 3 copies, all remote from each other to mitigate regional disasters.
Automated Security - Human error is commonly cited as a top reason for backup / restore failure. Venyu's automated solutions eliminate the possibility of tape loss, as well as the need for couriers.
